Being pregnant is an exciting time for our patients. Dr. Acuña and Kyla enjoy guiding our patients through the course of their pregnancy. Patient’s will be given one on one care over the course of their pregnancy to ensure all of their questions are answered. We have our patients meet with our obstetrics nurse twice during their pregnancy. The first educational visit will focus on answering any and all questions, and giving the patient an idea of what to expect over the next 9 months. The second educational visit will prepare the patient for what will occur towards the end of their pregnancy, the expectations for delivery, and the post-partum period.
Once a patient suspects they are pregnant we will see them in the office during their first trimester at approximately 8 weeks. An ultrasound will be performed prior to the patient’s 12-week mark to confirm the pregnancy and estimated due date. Subsequently, the patient will be seen on an every four week basis until 36 weeks into the pregnancy. The visits will then be scheduled on an every two weeks basis. During the prenatal period there will be labs performed in addition to the ultrasound studies. The patients will have an opportunity to have genetic screening performed during their pregnancy if desired. We also have the ability to perform a 3D ultrasound at a small additional cost should the patient want that option.
We arm our patients with all of the education possible so they are knowledgeable and comfortable over the course of their pregnancy. Dr. Acuña encourages her patients to actively participate in their care, and will work with each patient to create a delivery plan that is medically best for both the mother and baby.
Dr. Acuña also sees pregnant patients that are considered high-risk. Patients that fall into the high-risk category are generally seen more often during the course of their pregnancy, and will begin the fetal non-stress tests a bit sooner than the non high-risk patients.
Each child that is born is truly a miracle. Dr. Acuña and Kyla are very compassionate and enjoy providing the individualized care that each pregnant patient requires. If you think you may be pregnant please call and set up an appointment to be seen in the office. We will be able to answer your questions, and prepare you for all of the changes your body will have over the course of your pregnancy.
